The N.Y. Police and Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund, also known as Answer the Call, was founded in 1985 by NY Mets Legend Daniel “Rusty” Staub. Answer the Call provides immediate and ongoing support to the families of NYPD, FDNY, and PAPD heroes killed in the line of duty. Since it was founded, Answer the Call has distributed over $160 million directly to the families of our fallen heroes.  The organization believes the best way to honor our fallen heroes is to take care of those they love the most – their families. In addition to financial support, the organization hosts events and programs to give the families an opportunity to cope and connect. In 2021 alone, Answer the Call expects to help approximately 550 families and distribute over $4.6 million. For more information or to make a donation, visit answerthecall.org.
