Biography

Pam Rickard serves as Director of Active Engagement for Herren Project, founded by former NBA basketball player Chris Herren. Pam helped develop Team Herren Project, an initiative engaging people from across the country to run, walk, and participate in healthy activities, helping each other, and others, live stronger, healthier lives. The community raises awareness and significant funding for HerrenProject’s mission, which includes providing addiction recovery resources, education, and prevention initiatives throughout the US.Pam is a passionate advocate for the power and accessibility of recovery since beginning her own foundation in sobriety in 2006. Today she uses the power of sport and running to promote recovery. Her journey was featured in the book “A Race Like No Other,” New York Times writer Liz Robbins’ chronicle of the 2007 New York City Marathon. She was also a member of the 6-person Icebreaker Run team, running across the US in 2016 to bring awareness to substance use disorder and mental health issues. Pam currently lives in SW Virginia with her husband and 3 adult children.
